What Customers Are Saying

I went to the cactus a couple of nights ago. The weather was not that great, so we sat inside. Our server was Jessie. She had a lot of knowledge about the food and margaritas. She was also fun to have as our server. We had the rojo verde enchilada and the snapper that was on special. My husband and I really enjoyed it!! I would recommend the cactus to our friends in Boston, Mass!!!

"I was passing through Stowe for a night and stopped at Cactus for dinner. The food was excellent, wait staff was super nice and efficient. Can't wait to go back. Thanks for a great dinning experience."

"This is a great Mexican restaurant. The staff is very friendly, and the food is great. They have a great array of Mexican cuisine and then some. I'd recommend this place to everybody!"

"Whenever we are in Stowe we always stop here. Great drinks and food. The owner and bartender gave us dinner recommendations for a romantic restaurant. Their recommendations were excellent!! We will be back!!"

"My husband and I have dined at Cactus Cafe numerous times and we have never been disappointed. The menu is huge - everything from Mexican specialties to the regular burritos and enchiladas for the basic Mexican eaters. The margarita’s are flavorful and I like the fact that you can pick your brand of tequila - it's not the usual bland, boring "house" drink you'd find in the chain restaurants.

The food is authentic, fresh and you can tell it's homemade, not from a box. The wait staff has always been very attentive and personable. My favorite is the California Quesadilla - full of chicken and fresh avocado. Chips are warm and the homemade salsa is terrific.

We're looking forward to it again!"

"The Cactus Cafe is a favorite for locals and travelers alike. I work across the street from the Cactus Cafe at the Stowe Motel and I send many travelers to the Cactus knowing that guests will enjoy the restaurant's quality of food and friendly staff.

I suggest they try one of the in-house smoked specialties like the pulled-pork tacos or smoked duck fajitas. Even when guests ask me where they can enjoy seafood in Stowe, I send them to the Cactus because Chef Duckworth creates amazing seafood specials nearly everyday. And if you love heat, don't miss the homemade jalapeno poppers.

I continue to send travelers to the Cactus because many have commented to me that they love the atmosphere, especially the garden seating outside, and had the best margaritas ever."

"The staff at this restaurant are welcoming and overly nice. Great service and the food was amazing. Cant go wrong, highly recommended."

"I enjoyed my meal here and found the menu to have lots of choices. They offer several types of Margaritas as well, in addition to other beverages. I would definitely like to return here, as the menu had many items on it which sounded delicious and some of the daily specials sounded great too."

"If you are in the Stowe VT area and love Mexican food, you should definitely try this place!! Really good food and great margaritas, we have been there twice, both times were great. Enjoy!!"

"Make the trip, you will be happy you did. Everything on the menu is good. Their specials are especially good. The other night we had a tuna steak that was on a tostada with black beans and it was excellent. The service is always friendly and efficient. I had the tostada which was excellent as always.

You won't go wrong here at all!"

"A hankering for Southwestern cuisine led us to Cactus Cafe. At night from our balcony, we could actually see the hanging lights on their outside patio, and it looked darn fun. It was."

"Atmosphere: There was plenty to observe inside the restaurant, including hanging strings of lights like the ones on the patio outside and Christmas tree balls. The wait staff was very good at entertaining us AND engaging our young children, something not every establishment is good at. They actually had a tub of toys to loan the kids to keep them busy.

Food: The entrees were very generously sized, and all sounded great. Most were Southwestern in nature. Enchiladas Grande "Pescado" (seafood) was awesome, with spinach, artichokes, nd a delicious sauce."
